I changed my weebly website to a white background and the picasa slideshow was still black. It looked awful. In case you want to add a white background to your picasa slideshows, here's how you can do it easily.
Start by Copying the embed slideshow link in picasa (HERE's how). NExt,change the "RGB=0×000000"portion in the code you copy . The Example below has replaced the 0x000000 to FFFFFF to create a white background. Note: Only replace everything after the RGB= IF you want something more colorful, check out this. There are 500+ samples to chose from. EXAMPLE: <embed src="https://picasaweb.google.com/s/c/bin/slideshow.swf" width="800" height="533"wmode="transparent"flashvars= "host=picasaweb.google.com&hl=en_US&feat=flashalbum&RGB=FFFFFF&feed=https%3A%2F%2Fpicasaweb.google.com%2Fdata%2Ffeed%2Fapi% 2Fuser%2Fandrew.joanisse%2Falbumid%2F3650428 57781624465%3Falt%3Drss%26kind%3Dphoto%26aut hkey%3DGv1sRgCLyf8qSznIO6Eg%26hl%3Den_US" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"> I've been recently pretty frustrated trying to figure out how to stop my picasa slide shows from blocking my weebly css menus. IT has been super frustrating as most of the solutions deal with embedded flash only. Here is how to fix your picasa slideshows with weebly!
After pasting the html code from picasa, you have to paste this "wmode="transparent" after the height and width, and before where it says flashvars. This should make your flash transparent and allow all css to rule up front! Ps sorry about the spacing of this font.....it is my next problem to tackle (changing the blog font only, not the whole site) <embed src="https://picasaweb.google.com/s/c/bin/slideshow.swf" width="800" height="533"wmode="transparent"flashvars= "host=picasaweb.google.com&hl=en_US&feat=flashalbum&RGB=FFFFFF&feed=https%3A%2F%2Fpicasaweb.google.com%2Fdata%2Ffeed%2Fapi% 2Fuser%2Fandrew.joanisse%2Falbumid%2F5650438 57781624465%3Falt%3Drss%26kind%3Dphoto%26aut hkey%3DGv1sRgCLyf8qSznIO6Eg%26hl%3Den_US" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"> ![]()
I discovered an amazing way (shout out to Amanda Fanzani and the helpful users at blogging tips) to embed thumbnails of your whole album. You can even link back to your picasa lightbox to see each image in larger quality. With some googling and tweaking, it works perfectly! This is great if your albums are growing and a picasa embedded slideshow isn't good enough. It can be quite cumbersome to scroll all the way through and, let's face it, weebly's uploader is quite limited. Use the html code below to embed thumbnails on weebly, blogger, or wordpress. You can also download the pdf version at the top of the post.
Remeber to replace the YOUR USER NAME with your picasa user name (mine is andrew.joanisse). The thumbnails are set to 100, but you can change it to whatever by replacing the 100 in this section: var thumbCount = 100; You change the album it embeds by changing the link highlighted in red in the section here: (note: to find the link to your album, go to the picasa album of your choice, and click on RSS on the right side. Copy the link in the browser and delete everything after the question mark (?). $j.getJSON("https://picasaweb.google.com/data/feed/base/user/andrew.joanisse/albumid/5664661680757723377?kind=photo&thumbsize=72c&access=public&alt=json&callback=?", Here is the code below: <style> #picasaStream img {border: 1px solid #000; margin: 0 5px 5px 0;} </style> <script src="http://bloggerbuster-tools.googlecode.com/files/jquery.min.js" ></script> <script > $j = jQuery.noConflict(); $j(document).ready(function(){ $j.getJSON("https://picasaweb.google.com/data/feed/base/user/andrew.joanisse/albumid/5664661680757723377?kind=photo&thumbsize=72c&access=public&alt=json&callback=?", function(data){ var thumbCount = 100; var smallThumb = 0; var mediumThumb = 1; var largeThumb = 2; var picsCount = data.feed.entry.length - 1; for (var i = picsCount; i > picsCount - thumbCount; i--) { var pic = data.feed.entry[i]; $j("<img/>").attr("src", pic.media$group.media$thumbnail[smallThumb].url).attr("alt", pic.summary.$t).appendTo("#picasaStream").wrap("<a href=" + pic.link[1].href + ">"); } }); }); </script> <div id="picasaStream"></div> For those looking for super cheap photography equipment, you should always check out photoprice.ca. It always has the best comparison prices from across Canada and the US and it calculates prices with shipping, tax and duties/brokerage (if applicable). This time it didn't seem to pick up a great deal on the Sb-700 flash from Nikon. It it selling for $295 ($333 all in) from memory express. In the future, ME also offers the uber price beat where they match the lowest price online and beat by %25 of the difference. Great for getting a deal! If you want more info on the flash (or any other gear), I like Ken Rockwell for some no nonsense reviews on all things photography.
I got to wondering what are the laws of taking pictures in Toronto. From what I understood before, anything in a public place is fair game. Cops, families, buildings, animals, and so on...Seems like most are more or less common sense, but take a look just in case. I got the info here.
Another way to get the imagination going from the natural to the man made unexplained. Including Canada's own Oak Island Pit. Fascinating stuff! Click the image below.
